Andrea Yates Drowns Her Children

Former nurse Andrea Yates filled the bathtub with water and drowned her five children, aged 6 months to 7 years old, one by one. She then called the police and immediately told them "I killed my kids." She had been dealing with thoughts of harming her children for years and suffered from severe psychosis. In 2006, she was acquitted by reason of insanity and committed to a state hospital.
