Calder Hall Is Demolished

The world's very first nuclear power station was shut down and demolished using explosives. The event was broadcast live on the internet and thousands of people tuned in to witness it. Calder Hall's first reactor plant was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1956, and was used to generate electricity and plutonium for years.
