California Bans Plastic Bags

California became the first state to ban the plastic produce bags found in grocery stores. Shoppers are now required to use recycled paper bags for their groceries. The state had previously banned single-use checkout bags from all supermarkets, pharmacies, and convenience stores back in 2016.
