The pandemic, along with the resulting economic recession, have negatively affected many people's mental health and wellness. New barriers have been created for people already suffering from mental illness and substance abuse. During the pandemic, 4 in 10 adults reported symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder, up from 1 in 10 adults who reported the same symptoms in June 2019.
