Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry was initially going to be the fourth installment of the Resident Evil video game series. The creators changed direction after recognizing that it was more reminiscent of action films from the late 90s and early 2000s rather than the horror themes in Resident Evil. It made a huge impact on the genre and went on to sell 3 million copies, spawned multiple sequels, and became one of the greatest video games of all time.
