Fyre Festival was a failed luxury music festival founded by con artist Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule. McFarland defrauded investors of $27.4 million by marketing and selling tickets to the festival and other events. During the festival's opening weekend, the event experienced problems related to security, food, medical services, artist relations, and more.
