"Hotel Rwanda" Premieres

Based on the Rwandan genocide of 1994, the film documents a hotelier's efforts to save the lives of his family and more than 1,000 refugees by providing them with shelter. The director was moved to create the film due to the lack of international intervention during the crisis. Hotel Rwanda was nominated for multiple awards, including the Academy Awards for Best Actor (Don Cheadle) and Best Actress (Sophie Okonedo).
