Katrina's Impact On Mental Health

Hurricane Katrina displaced more than 1 million people, most of them Black people. It unveiled issues of national disaster preparedness, socioeconomic status and race. Research indicates that PTSD, the loss of family and social network, sense of self, and the financial burdens that victims of the storm experienced largely contributed to their mental health and wellness.
