Mark Messier's Jersey Is Retired
During an emotional ceremony before the Rangers' game against the Oilers, a sold out crowd drowned Mark Messier out to the point that it brought him to tears. He had played ten years in New York City in two stints and was dubbed "The Messiah" for bringing the Cup back home. His #11 jersey was raised to the rafters, making his number only the fourth to be retired by the Rangers.
