Metallica Files A Lawsuit Against Napster

The band alleged that Napster was guilty of committing copyright infringement and racketeering. Metallica sought over $10 million in damages and ended with Napster being forced to remove all songs by Metallica from their system. Napster was eventually forced to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and liquidate its’ assets. This led to the start of the movement against file-sharing programs.
