Microsoft Is Declared A Monopoly
United States v. Microsoft Corporation was a case in which the US government accused the tech company of illegally maintaining its monopoly position in the PC market through the restrictions placed on manufacturers and users to uninstall Internet Explorer and other programs. Microsoft argued that the merge of Windows and Internet Explorer was a result of innovation and that consumers were receiving the benefits for free. Per the judgement, Microsoft would have to be broken into two separate units, one to produce the operating system and one to produce other software components.
