Spotify Launches

Spotify was founded in Stockholm, Sweden by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon. Ek originally came up with the idea for Spotify after Napster was shut down. He wanted to find a way for people to legally share and listen to music. It initially ran as a peer-to-peer distribution model but eventually switched to the model we now use.
