Taiwan's President Is Shot

An assassination attempt on the Taiwanese president and vice president took place just one day before the presidential election. Their injuries weren't life threatening and they were both able to leave the hospital on the same day but the incident caused division and unease among people. Some believed that the whole thing was faked in order to win the sympathy of voters in the upcoming election, in which they won by 29,500 votes. However, several forensic studies showed that the gun wounds were indeed real.
