The Eyak Language Becomes Extinct

After the death of its last native speaker Marie Smith Jones, the Eyak language became extinct. The language was spoken by the indigenous tribe in Alaska. However, in 2010 it was revealed that a college student taught himself Eyak. Despite the discovery, the language is still classified as "dormant" due to there being no native speakers.
