Trump's Social Media Comeback
In a major shift, Meta has restored former President Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts. The suspension, following the Jan. 6 insurrection due to fears of further incitement, has now been lifted with the company stating, "the risk has sufficiently receded." Despite having his Twitter reinstated by new owner Elon Musk and utilizing his own platform, Truth Social, Trump has yet to post on these restored channels. Meta promises stricter enforcement of community guidelines, with potential penalties ranging from a month to two years for any infraction.
