WBC Strips Crawford Title Over Sanctioning Fee

The WBC stripped Terence “Bud” Crawford of its super middleweight title after the organization said he didn’t pay the required sanctioning fees, including roughly $300,000 tied to his Canelo fight. WBC officials said they’d already reduced the usual percentage fee, but claimed Crawford and his team ignored repeated attempts to resolve it. The decision ended his WBC reign just months after becoming undisputed, and set up the belt to be fought for next by Christian Mbilli and Hamzah Sheeraz.
