An Earthquake Devastates Afghanistan

More than 1,000 people were killed after a powerful earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, leaving another 1,500 injured. The 6.1 magnitude tremor was the deadliest earthquake to affect the country since 2002. While houses and buildings were turned into rubble, heavy rains and winds prevented helicopters from being able to deliver medical supplies and food to those in need.
