Hurricane Sandy Hits

Hurricane Sandy was one of the strongest hurricanes in 2012. It killed 233 people and caused $70 billion in damage. The category 3 storm started in Cuba and quickly swept across the Caribbean before landing in New Jersey and New York. The hurricane caused flooding in New York City streets and cut the access to power for thousands of people.
