Floods Wreak Havoc In South Africa

After a week of relentless rain and mudslides, nearly 4,000 homes were destroyed and 448 people died in the Durban area of South Africa. More than 40,000 people were also displaced. The country's president declared a national state of disaster and allocated $67 million to help those affected. Troops were also deployed to help with search and rescue efforts, and to deliver food, water and clothing to flood victims.
